Caracas, Venezuela, the most violent city in the world POPULAR
In 2015, the first position among the world's cities with 300,000 or more inhabitants, corresponded to Caracas with a rate of 119.87 intentional homicide per 100 thousand inhabitants. After rating in the first position for four consecutive years, San Pedro Sula (111.03) moved into second place, by achieving a significant decline in the number of homicides.
In 2015, San Salvador was in the third position (108.54), Acapulco is in fourth (104.73), and Maturin in fifth (86.45).
Out of the 2015 ranking, we found eight cities that figured in 2014: Belo Horizonte (Brazil); Medellin and Cucuta (Colombia); Chihuahua, Cuernavaca, Juarez, Nuevo Laredo and Torreon (Mexico). Mexico accounted for the largest number of cities out of the ranking (five), back in 2011 it had 12 cities.
